#interview

1. Can you tell about yourself?
2.What made you go into UX design?

Hello! I am Sneha, an architect/ recent graduate looking to transition into the world of UX. A keen observer and learner who loves to design.

I have been excited about the field from when i have heard about it as the possibility of combination of design, psychology and technology is very fascinating. These concepts weren't new to me as I have been utilizing similar concepts in my architectural projects, but to learn that there is a whole new field related to this combined with tech, that got me motivated. I have always been a keen observer and a sucker for smart design more than the aesthetics. After a series of self-learning, reading books and blogs, I am at this point. There is lots to learn and even though i want to start my internship, these challenging times have us all worried.

3. What is the favourite project you've ever worked on?

With still being a newbie in the field, I donot have a lot of projects in hand but the one I think I will never forget is my very first one. TERRA- carbon footprint manager.

By doing this app concept/case study I learnt a lot in the process. Moreover what i intended at the beginning when I started out and the result I got are drastic ends but the satisfaction after completing the project was immense.

4.What are some websites and Apps whose design you love? Why?

GOOGLE - As cliche as it may sound, they are best in the business. Google has a lot of sub features with most of them serving the purpose. What I like most about it is that, it doesn't have anything fancy just simple, seamless user friendly interface. For example, the google maps(most of us are lost without it).
YOUTUBE - It is a major source of entertainment used by many, rightly so. Even a 4 year old kid knows how to navigate through the app(talking from personal experience). It has a intuitive and engaging interface that caters to users interests.
PAYTM - I was a bit late to jump in on the online payments bandwagon but thanks to paytm, its easy navigation and understandability made it easier. What I like about it is that they have integrated its may features on one screen. PS not a big fan of their recent updates though.

5. How Do You Define UX?

Hmm.. UX.. User Experience? There is no easy definition for this one. It is all about the user and their experience. It is the person's emotions, attitudes and behavior in situations or products. the user is at the core at all these and Understanding them to design anything not just limited to digital products.

6. WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO CREATE YOUR DESIGNS?

Nature! There is no better designer out there. Be it the shape of clouds or the colours of landscapes. There is a lot to learn from nature as it is formed from a evolutionary trial and error and adapting to changes emerging strong to its context.
Also, not to forget the nature of humans.

7. Who are your design heroes?

Don Norman- The Design of everyday things was the first book i read related to the field and it was the best. The concept of how your everyday items can be reimagimed to break our notions.
"Good designs is actually a lot harder to notice than poor design, in part because good designs fit out needs so well that the design is invisible"
